Cody Schmidt is a former collegiate baseball player and dedicated coach with a lifelong passion for the game. He played four years of collegiate baseball at Wisconsin Lutheran College from 2005 to 2009, earning recognition as a standout athlete. In 2006, he was named to the Lake Michigan All-Freshmen Team, and in 2009, he received honors on the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) All-Sportsmanship Team.
Following his playing career, Cody transitioned into coaching, serving as an assistant coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2010. Shortly after, he moved back to his home state of Oklahoma and married his wife, Becca Schmidt, in the same year.
A graduate of Union City High School, Cody returned to his alma mater as an assistant baseball coach from 2010 to 2016. His coaching journey then led him to take over the school’s softball program, where he made history by starting Union City’s first-ever fastpitch team. Under his leadership, the team achieved a state tournament appearance, and he coached four Academic All-Staters and four All-Staters during his head coaching career.
In 2023, Cody joined Minco Public Schools as a softball coach and teacher, continuing his dedication to mentoring young athletes. His son, Bryce, also proudly represents Minco as a Bulldog, making the experience even more meaningful.
