We owe a debt of gratitude to our to our school board for their selfless service for the benefit of our students here in Minco. January is school board appreciation month in the state of Oklahoma.
Sometimes the job of a board member is challenging to say the least. Every month we meet to work on policy, contracts and plans that will make a difference to the lives of multiple generations of students in Minco. I can say assuredly that Don McMahon, Lance McKee, Lisa Schneberger, Brad Bute and Charles Burchfield put our children first in what they do. I can also attest they care for the Minco community.
Over the last five years, this board has spent over $1,000,000.00 for this community. The City of Minco gained a new water tower, hundreds of feet of new water line, and major improvements to drainage along Caddo street. Not to mention a new high school, a new middle school, and major elementary school improvements. What our school board has done is nothing short of incredible. This school district is a leader for this community. Without the leadership of Minco Public Schools and its elected officials, this community would have not received these improvements.
This board has a desire for strong academics. This board ensures that our teachers have the resources necessary to teach and give our students an excellent education. Our board supports the fine arts, athletics and our strong student leadership organizations. For these things we are thankful.
Do me a favor when you see one of these board members out in public, say thank you because their leadership has had a tremendous impact on students and generations of students to come.
