Subject: Statement Regarding Student Privacy and Social Media Content
Minco Public Schools Administration was recently made aware that videos featuring students have been created and shared by school personnel on various social media platforms.
We recognize that these videos were intended to showcase the positive learning environments within our classrooms and to promote our various school activities. However, we also deeply understand and respect the sensitivity surrounding student privacy in the digital age.
The safety and confidentiality of our students are our highest priorities. Please be assured that the Minco administrative team fully understands and upholds the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We are committed to maintaining a secure environment that respects the legal rights of our families.
To ensure we are meeting these standards, the district has issued the following directive:
Prohibition of Content: The posting of videos featuring students on personal social media platforms by school personnel is strictly prohibited.
Immediate Action: These practices will cease effectively immediately.
Official Channels: We will continue to celebrate our students' achievements and school spirit exclusively through official, district-vetted communication channels that adhere to strict privacy protocols.
We appreciate the community's trust as we take these necessary steps to protect our students.
Sincerely,
The Minco Public Schools Administration
