Minco Public Schools Guidelines for Basketball 2020-21 (These requirements will be evaluated each week as Covid numbers change) We want to welcome everyone to Minco Public Schools in Minco, Ok for the 2020-2021 Basketball season. This year with Covid-19 making impacts on our communities, we have put the following guidelines in place for our athletic events at the gymnasium. These guidelines are in place to keep you as safe as possible while watching athletic events here in Minco. Thank you for your cooperation. At home events we will be issuing tickets to the athletes competing from Minco and the visiting team. We will be issuing 4 tickets per athlete and coach for each respective team. Our gym seats 1050 people at full capacity, these tickets will keep our capacity below 30% during the games. You must have a designated ticket for the event or you will not be allowed in the facility!!! Social Distancing is necessary and in effect at athletic events. MASKS WILL BE MANDATORY UPON ENTERING THE GYM AND MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES. (Masks will not be provided by the Minco school district) Students/Children MUST remain in the stands during the games and be accompanied by an adult upon entry. There will be no loitering in the lobbies of the gymnasium. Concession Stand will only serve bottled water/ bottled soft drinks/ bottled gatorade/ packaged food items and prepackaged popcorn. Concession stand workers will be wearing masks and gloves. Home spectators will sit only on the home side, and visitors will sit on the visitor side. Sportsmanship is very important at Minco Schools, but at this current time we feel it is important for both teams to make their way to their respective locker rooms immediately after the game is completed and avoid handshake lines at the conclusion of the contests. We will not be allowing visitors to bring a cheer team to our gym this season and our cheer team will not be traveling to away games this year and Minco will have no more than 12 cheerleaders at home games. As soon as the game is over, we ask that you exit the gymnasium promptly- please no congregating near exits or entryways in the gym. Locker rooms will be deep cleaned before use and basketballs and equipment will be kept sanitized for contests.

Minco Community: Our school and community are in the middle of a Covid 19 spread. These times are as challenging as we have ever had or as challenging as we will deal with in our lifetime. At this time my number one priority and job is public safety. I take this very seriously. Today, I am implementing steps to help ensure safety. We as a school must do our part to limit and control the spread of the virus. As of today, we have had little spread in school, but this seems to be changing. We have a number of positive cases the last two weeks. I do believe that basketball games inside the gym are super spreader type events. On Monday night at a junior high basketball game here at Minco I know of SEVEN people who attended who tested positive for Covid on Tuesday. With that being said, we will take steps to allow our student athletes to participate in sports and limit the spread. Here are some steps that will be followed until further notice: The 5th and 6th grade seasons are postponed. No more games will be played until after January 1st. ALL JUNIOR HIGH GAMES ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL DEC 6th. Most likely basketball schedules will have to be adjusted on the spur of the moment. All home games for high school and junior high will have limited spectators. All high school games will be aired on WWW.MINCOBULLDOGS.TV Minco Public Schools will release information on November 30th concerning spectators and fans for this basketball season. I know these are challenging times, but we are going to win this battle. Sometimes to win battles, we have to make small sacrifices. The responsibility of public safety is upon our school is great right now. We take it seriously and we also want to ensure our student athletes can play sports. It's a fine balance, but we are prepared to do what is necessary to ensure these things. Thank you, Kevin Sims

Good evening. We have had a staff member test positive in the elementary, and some other staff members now quarantined. We are closing the elementary the remainder of the week. This is a very challenging time for our community and school. At this time we will keep the high school and middle school in session on Wednesday and Thursday, but we will be closed on Friday in those buildings as well Thank you for your understanding in these matters. Parents we have several students under quarantine who have been assigned work on Google classroom and email or even in some cases actual paperwork. Many students have not been doing their work. They will be held accountable. This work is required and graded. Please make sure your children are staying on top of their assignments. It does count for grades. Do not hesitate to email your child's teachers if you need help for them.

Good afternoon. Last night at around midnight I became sick. This morning I felt pretty rough and went to the doctor. I tested positive for Covid 19. I felt no symptoms until around midnight. I have contacted the Oklahoma State Dept of Health and we have contact traced. There is a video circulating of me celebrating with the football team after the win. I was only around them well less than 15 minutes. None of the team or coaches or any school personnel have to quarantine due to contact rules. Thank God. Finally I will say this stuff for me anyways is no joke. I could use a prayer or two. Thank you, Mr. Sims
